A look back at VetPartners scanner training in Luxembourg

From June 9 to 13, 2025, VEDIM, in collaboration with the VetPartners group, organized a high-level training course dedicated to veterinary computed tomography (CT) at the NH Hotel in Findel, Luxembourg.

This intensive program, led by Prof. Paul Barthez, accompanied by Dr. Laurent Blond, Dr. François Lafuma and Dr. Susanne Boroffka, brought together some thirty veterinarians to enhance their skills in advanced medical imaging.

Comprehensive training structured around 5 key clinical areas

Each day of the week was devoted to a specific anatomical system, combining theory, case studies and interactive sessions on interpretation software.

🦴 Day 1: Scanner and orthopedics

Understanding of basic principles (acquisition, reconstruction, image quality) and application to orthopedic clinical cases. Computer lab manipulations and targeted debriefings.

🧠 Day 2: Neuroimaging

Exploration of the central nervous system and spine, with a focus on simplified neuroanatomy and specific reading methods.

🐽 Day 3: Head and sensory organs

Case studies of the nasal cavity, ears and the whole head, with a fine, methodical anatomical approach.

🫁 Day 4: Thorax

Reading of lung parenchyma, mediastinal masses and heart, with a step-by-step approach to thoracic CT interpretation.

🧍‍♀️ Day 5: Abdomen and angioscanner

Optimal acquisition techniques for abdominal examination, vascular imaging, and final assessment of acquired knowledge.

Rich exchanges and strong commitment from participants

VetPartners veterinarians showed great enthusiasm throughout the course. The teaching format, alternating theory and practice, enabled an immediate increase in skills, with very positive feedback on the interactive approach, the quality of the clinical cases and the availability of the speakers.

“A dense but exciting course, with a real plus in understanding images and interpretation tools.”

Objective achieved: better use of the scanner on a daily basis

The aim of this training course was clear: to enable veterinarians, whether generalists or specialists, tofully exploit the possibilities offered by the scanner in their day-to-day practice.

Thanks to the expertise of our trainers and the pedagogical platform we have set up, participants leave with concrete skills that can be immediately applied in their own organization.

An initiative worth repeating

This week of intensive training was a real success, both in scientific and human terms. VEDIM warmly thanks all the speakers, participants and partners for their involvement.

👉 S tay tuned for more scanner training sessions in the coming months!
